You can also measure the length of your existing hard disk drive and compare it to the SSD model you are buying- if they are exactly the same in size then you don’t need any extra screws etc but I generally recommend getting an entire kit just for convenience with everything you might need included in one package.
Some companies sell faster versions with different controllers that provide higher performance levels but these are usually only useful if your laptop is very old because they have limited backward compatibility.
